Collection management is a very responsible process that requires precise and rigorous approach. In order to make it efficient and keep the art holdings in order, you should operate with useful online tools. One of such must-have online tools is dashboard.

Dashboard powered with a variety of charts, filters, and tables provides collectors with a deep overview of their collections via one-stop page. This approach turns collection management to another level of clarity, flexibility, and convenience.

Challenge

Developing a dashboard that could show collection holdings by variety of categories and subcategories. In order to make a deep overview dashboard was required to split art collection holdings by the following categories and filters:

  1. Sections
  2. Artists
  3. Locations and sub-locations
  4. Statuses
  5. Ownership
  6. Value or quantity of things

Due to the diversity of collections, this dashboard shouldn’t have been limited with only one type of chart. In order to get a complete overview of the collections, several types of diagrams had to be designed.

Solution

We designed a customizable dashboard that displays art collection holdings by all possible categories (including filters).

Any of the art collections can be easily visualized by several types of charts. Just a few of them:

  • Sunburst
  • Treemap
  • Table

Just choose needed filters, categories or even make your own ones and dashboard will show you everything about your collection. We powered this solution with eye-catching design and D3 services to make it functional and great looking. Dashboard was integrated with corporate resources and implemented with the help of React, Elasticsearch and Python.

Result

Now it is an easy thing to split all art collection holdings by categories and make a deep overview of them. With the help of dashboard, users can create their custom filters and categories according to their needs. All data can be clearly visualized by several types of charts thus make collection management more efficient.
